(B) Overview of Project






Summary:
- Focus of Project:
This project steers students to acquire computer game design skill and apply it to develop a chemistry game known as Chemistris. Students will also study molecular science, create and test play the game, and learn how to spark the creative thinking of the player.
The objective of the game is to combine molecular blocks in order to form the molecular compound and the user will learn and memorize a list of the molecular compound. In the game, user can interactively control the blocks in a 3D environment and the game allows the user to control the viewing camera. Once the user successfully matches the molecules, score will be given and the background image will be randomly changed.

- A workshop that teaches us how to modify a game called chemistris. Rules of the games are explained above. We used a game engine called 3D Studio. We edited a template of the game. We were taught how to change some colours and audio of the game as well as being able to customize which key to use for controls.


(C) Our Mission

Outcome of Project:
- To develop a game that is aesthetically appealing to the audience, mostly young children.
- A game where buttons are easy to navigate, controls are easy and user-friendly.
- A game that is fun and engaging to keep young children entertained!

- To verify that learning through some games can be fun and does no harm to us, instead we learn more as we enjoy the fun.

(D) Our Accomplishments

We changed the game a personalized it in terms of colours, design, molecule shapes and also sound effects. We also managed to make a presentation within the short amount of time given.

S - move first cuboid down
D - move first cuboid right
Q - rotate first cuboid

up key - move second cuboid up
down key - move second cuboid down
left key - move second cuboid left
right - move second cuboid right
, (comma) - rotate second cuboid
0 - Switch to Camera mode; press again to go back to normal

(E) Our Gains

We learnt that game engines are applications which contains the physics engine, geometric modeler, level maker, script editor, 3D maker. We are now able to make small little tweaks here and there to the Chemistris game.

We were also allowed to copy out the game so we can further experiment and improve the game using out own computers at home.
